When you first ask a battery pack factory for a quote, the minimum order quantity (MOQ) is the figure that shapes everything else — price per unit, lead time, and even whether the project is worth tooling up at all. For a custom / OEM pack, MOQ is not an arbitrary gate. It reflects how the line is set up, what cells get sourced, and how each pack is assembled and tested. This guide explains the MOQ we apply to every product line and, more importantly, the reasoning behind each number so you can plan your own order with confidence.
1. What MOQ actually covers in a custom pack
A custom pack is not a shelf item. Below a certain quantity, the cost of cell purchasing, fixture setup, PCM / BMS programming, and the first production run's grading and testing cannot be spread across enough units to make the price sensible. MOQ is the point where a real production batch — not a hand-built prototype — begins. Cross it, and the unit price is driven by materials and volume; stay below it, and the unit price is dominated by setup. That is why MOQ behaves like a pricing step rather than a wall.
2. Our MOQ by product line
These are the standard minimums we hold for each line. They are firm for standard configurations and can move only when a project reuses proven tooling or shares a cell-and-BMS combination (see Section 7). Sample policy is the same across all lines: samples are charged and the cost is credited to your first production order.
| Product line | Minimum order (MOQ) | Sample before bulk |
|---|---|---|
| Power tool battery packs | 20 units | Charged — credited to first order |
| Drone / UAV battery packs | 20 units | Charged — credited to first order |
| Digital device battery packs | 100 units | Charged — credited to first order |
| LiFePO4 energy storage | 10 units | Charged — credited to first order |
Note: MOQ applies to a defined specification. A pack that requires entirely new tooling, a new certification path, or specially sourced cells may carry a different minimum — we confirm this in the quote, never after tooling.
3. Why storage packs start at 10
LiFePO4 storage packs are built from a small set of standard cell formats and modular BMS configurations. The bill of materials is predictable and the assembly is repeatable, so we can open a production batch at a lower quantity without re-engineering the line. For many importers, 10 units is enough to validate a 12V / 24V storage product in the local market — a solar shop, a rental fleet, a backup-power installer — before committing to a full container. The low MOQ is a direct result of the line being standardised, not discounted.
4. Why digital-device packs carry a higher MOQ (100)
Digital device packs vary far more from project to project. Form factor, connector, protection scheme and certification path are rarely standard, so a low-volume run means more engineering time per unit — which pushes the viable MOQ up to 100. If your digital product is still in the prototype stage, talk to us early: we can often phase the tooling so a first small batch is followed by volume at a corrected price, rather than quoting you the full engineering cost up front.
5. Samples are charged — and credited
We do not offer free samples. Every sample is built to your specification, graded and tested, so it carries a real cost — and that cost is deducted from your first production order. Freight on samples is borne by the buyer. This policy keeps inquiries serious and lets us invest engineering time where it matters: into packs that are actually going into production. If you are comparing factories, a charged sample is also the fastest way to see real capacity, build quality and communication behaviour before you commit volume.
6. How MOQ affects your unit price
Below MOQ, the unit price is dominated by setup, not materials. Cross the MOQ and materials become the dominant cost, and each step up in volume typically lowers the per-unit figure. The MOQ is therefore the first pricing step on a curve, not a barrier. We show you that step curve in the quote so you can see exactly where the next price break sits — and decide whether a slightly larger first order is worth it.
We don't make cells — so we're free to pick the best. Because we are not tied to a single cell brand, we can match the right grade and chemistry to the volume you actually need, instead of forcing your project into our inventory or someone else's catalogue average.
7. When MOQ can flex
MOQ is firm for standard product lines, but it can move in three situations: when a project shares tooling with an existing pack, when you commit to a forecast across several shipments, or when the pack reuses a proven cell-and-BMS combination we already build. It cannot move when a pack needs entirely new tooling, a new certification, or cells we would have to source specially for your order. Tell us your real annual volume and we will tell you the honest number — not the number that gets a reply.

Send us your voltage, capacity, quantity and destination — even a photo of your current pack is enough to start — and we reply within 24 hours with a specification proposal, the applicable MOQ, and pricing tiers. Samples are charged and credited to your first production order.
Quick Inquiry
Not sure which MOQ applies to your project, or whether your pack reuses proven tooling? That is exactly the conversation to have before you order. A good factory will tell you the honest minimum and show you the price curve — so the quote you receive reflects your real device and your real volume, not a guess.
